Breakthroughs and Development of Sensors in Shaanxi Province in the Intelligent Era

Time: April 2, 2026

Venue: Xi’an Academy of Social Sciences, Shaanxi Province

Theme: Breakthroughs and Development of Sensors in Shaanxi Province in the Intelligent Era

Participants: More than 80 representatives, including research teams from universities in Shaanxi such as Xi’an Jiaotong University and Northwestern Polytechnical University, representatives of Shaanxi Qijia Automation Technology Co.,Ltd., officials from the Department of Industry and Information Technology, the Department of Science and Technology and the Development and Reform Commission of Shaanxi Province, as well as representatives from upstream and downstream supporting enterprises in the industrial chain and industry associations.

Sensors Meeting
CIPPUS Sensors
Focusing on the industrial transformation trends in the intelligent era, this meeting conducted an all-round discussion on the high-quality development of the sensor industry in Shaanxi. Participants summarized the industrial advantages of the province: at present, there are nearly 200 sensor-related enterprises in Shaanxi, forming a complete industrial chain covering design, manufacturing, packaging and testing. The output of silicon piezoresistive pressure sensors accounts for more than one-third of the national total. Carriers such as the Western Sensor Industrial Park and the Xi’an Aerospace Base Sensor Valley are accelerating development, with R&D investment increasing by an average of 15% annually in the past three years and more than 1,200 relevant patents applied for.
Meanwhile, the meeting addressed existing shortcomings: the import dependence of high-end MEMS chips exceeds 70%, there is a gap between core algorithms and international advanced levels, small and medium-sized enterprises face insufficient funds for technological iteration, the efficiency of collaborative innovation in the industrial chain is relatively low, and the expansion of application scenarios needs to be improved.
In terms of technological breakthroughs and industrial layout, experts and enterprise representatives conducted in-depth exchanges on the integration of AI and sensors, MEMS technology upgrading, research and development of computing-in-sensing chips, and multi-modal sensing technology. They focused on the application prospects in fields such as high-precision industrial detection, smart city sensing, and medical health monitoring, and shared R&D achievements and industrialization experience in segmented fields such as flexible sensors and automotive-grade sensors.
The Department of Science and Technology of Shaanxi Province clearly stated that it will further increase support for core technological research, raising the annual special support fund to 200 million yuan, and establish a mechanism of "proposing topics by enterprises, setting up projects by the government, and joint problem-solving by industry, university and research institutes". The Department of Industry and Information Technology proposed to promote leading enterprises to take the lead in building a common technology platform, complete two national sensor testing and certification centers within three years, and improve the supporting system of the industrial chain.
The meeting reached a consensus: it is necessary to strengthen the in-depth integration of the innovation chain, industrial chain, capital chain and talent chain. By building industry-university-research collaborative platforms, expanding application scenarios and cultivating professional talents, we will accelerate the tackling of key core technologies, promote the transformation of Shaanxi’s sensor industry from large-scale manufacturing to high-end intelligent manufacturing, build a leading sensor industrial highland in western China and even the whole country, and inject strong impetus into the development of new quality productive forces in the province.
